The Board of Directors of the Yemen Arabian Sea Ports Corporation concluded its sixth meeting at the corporation’s headquarters at the Port of Mukalla. The meeting was chaired by Eng. Salem Ali
Basamer, Chairman of the Board, with the participation of Mr.Fwad Alrbaky, deputy of Chairman of YASPC, and board members representing the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance, the General Authority for Maritime Affairs in Hadramout, and the local authorities of Hadramout, Al-Mahrah, Shabwah, and the Socotra Archipelago.
During the two-day session held on Wednesday and Thursday, the board reviewed the status of implementation of decisions and recommendations from the previous meeting. The agenda also included discussion of strategic development projects for the corporation’s ports, updates on the procurement of marine equipment, and progress on infrastructure works at the Ports of Mukalla and Nashtoon.
The board also examined the latest developments concerning the Hadramout Strategic Port (Port of Barum ), including updated technical studies aligned with global trade standards and the province’s growing need for a modern seaport capable of supporting international maritime logistics.
Investment prospects in the planned Qana Port in Shabwah were also addressed, alongside the corporation’s phased plan to introduce clean energy solutions—beginning with Nash’tun Port, followed by the Ports of Mukalla and Socotra. The meeting concluded with a set of administrative, financial, and technical recommendations aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving the overall quality of services provided at the corporation’s ports.
