Dr. Abdul Salam Saleh Humeid, Minister of Transport, conducted an inspection visit to Mukalla Port in Hadramout, where he reviewed the ongoing commercial and maritime activities. The visit was followed by a high-level meeting with key officials, including Captain Ali Al-Sobhi, Deputy Minister for Maritime Affairs, Engineer Salem Basmer, Chairman of the Arabian Sea Ports Corporation, and other senior figures.
The meeting focused on the progress of several key projects, including the ports of Qana, Socotra, and Qishn, as well as the preparations of Yemeni ports in liberated areas to handle imports, following the closure of Hodeidah ports. Minister Humeid emphasized the need to implement a "single window" system to streamline operations and discussed proposals to amend port tariffs and facilitate the entry of previously restricted goods.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving port efficiency and enhancing operational capabilities to support the national economy and weaken Houthi militia control. Discussions also addressed the impact of Houthi attacks on international shipping lanes and the need for enhanced coordination across maritime sectors to ensure continued service at the country's liberated ports.
