The Board of Directors of the Yemen Arabian Sea Ports Corporation (YASPC) concluded its eighth meeting in Mukalla, held from May 19-20, 2025. Chaired by Eng. Salem Ali Basamer, Chairman of the Board, the session was attended by representatives from relevant ministries, local authorities, and senior department heads.

The two-day meeting focused on evaluating institutional performance during the first quarter (Q1) of 2025. Discussions centered on progress reports, operational challenges, and the follow-up on resolutions passed during the previous board meeting in 2024.

The board reviewed the corporation's investment program, financial statements, and vessel traffic statistics for Q1 2025. Significant emphasis was placed on technical upgrades, notably the "Single Window" project aimed at streamlining administrative procedures. The board also assessed ongoing maintenance programs for marine tugboats to ensure operational readiness.

Strategic expansion and sustainability were key items on the agenda. Deliberations covered future projects at the ports of Qana and Khalfut, as well as development plans for Nashtun Port. In a move toward modernization, the board discussed initiatives to integrate solar energy into port operations to enhance sustainability and efficiency.

The meeting concluded with a series of recommendations aimed at bolstering institutional performance, improving service quality, and strengthening the corporation’s administrative, financial, and technical infrastructure.

The session was attended by Mr. Fwad Alrbaky, deputy of Chairman of YASPC, along with representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance, the General Authority for Maritime Affairs, and local government officials from the governorates of Hadramout, Shabwa, Socotra, and Al-Mahra.
