Yemen’s Transport Minister Outlines Strategic Priorities to Boost Sector Performance

In a high-level expanded meeting held today at the Ministry’s headquarters in the temporary capital, Aden, Yemen’s Minister of Transport, Mr. Mohsen Haidara Al-Amri, met with senior officials, heads of affiliated sectors, and state-owned transport corporations to establish urgent operational priorities and enhance institutional performance.
At the outset of the meeting, Minister Al-Amri conveyed greetings from the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, and Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Al-Zindani, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Ministry’s efforts in revitalizing the transport sector as a cornerstone of the national economy.
Strategic Recovery and Institutional Governance
Addressing the leadership, Minister Al-Amri highlighted the resilience of the Ministry in navigating past challenges. "The transport sector directly impacts the daily lives of our citizens. Despite the exceptional circumstances facing the country, we must double our efforts and optimize available resources to improve service quality and operational efficiency," the Minister stated.
The Minister reviewed the government’s broader mandate, which focuses on economic and financial recovery, sustainable basic services, and the transition toward digital governance. He underscored the necessity of working as a unified team to achieve these objectives and strengthen partnerships with the international community.
Strengthening State Sovereignty and Compliance
A key highlight of the meeting was the Minister’s directive to finalize the Ministry’s comprehensive action plan within the designated timeframe for submission to the Cabinet. He stressed that the Ministry will strictly enforce state sovereignty and the rule of law across all ports and transport hubs, curbing any activities outside the legal framework.
Furthermore, Al-Amri pledged to coordinate with the government to resolve outstanding financial obligations for certain departments, ensuring their continued operation and increased productivity. He urged all sectors to foster integration and propose innovative initiatives to modernize Yemen’s maritime, land, and air transport infrastructure.
Broad Leadership Consensus
The heads of the various transport authorities and corporations expressed their full support for the Ministry’s strategic direction, affirming their readiness to accelerate reforms and improve service delivery across all liberated governorates.
The meeting was attended by a wide range of senior officials, including the Undersecretaries for Maritime, Land, and Administrative Affairs, as well as the Chairmen of the Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation ,Yemen Arabian Sea Ports Corporation, the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, Yemenia Airways, the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, and the Maritime Affairs Authority, alongside several advisors and department heads.
